I know that there is <strong>Gopes<\/strong> or the <strong>Shop.Com<\/strong>, or any number of rocks where people congregate&#8230; but still.\u00a0 A campus should have places where people can meet- to discuss, interact, debate\u2026 any number of things that one has all the time for in these years, and less time for afterwards\u2026 Anyone who has been anywhere near JNU knows of <strong>Ganga Dhaba<\/strong> and how it has given aspiring debaters a chance to cut their ideological teeth&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hcurocks.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/benzene.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-896\" title=\"benzene\" src=\"http:\/\/hcurocks.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/benzene.jpg?w=120\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"114\" \/><\/a>The central hexagon (or is that a depiction of benzene??)\u00a0 in the garden in front of the Science Complex has been gussied up over the past few days: the garden has been cleared, the stones have got fixed and cemented into a low wall, the access steps have been fixed, etc.\u00a0 This is mostly to encourage people to use the park,\u00a0 to hang out. I hope that the space can be used imaginatively- say by the inventive theatre groups that we have on campus.\u00a0 Or for music.\u00a0 And if you have suggestions of what else is needed in this regard- either here or elsewhere on the campus, do let me know and hopefully we can make this happen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been struck by the fact that there are relatively few places where students (or anyone, for that matter) can sit on the UoH campus outside an office, classroom, or seminar hall.
