Previous recipients of the award which was instituted in 1983 include Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and Indira Gandhi.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hcurocks.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/images3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-85\" title=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/hcurocks.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/images3.jpg?w=150\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"72\" \/><\/a>Dr Kota Harinarayana was our VC between 2002 and 2005, and he is credited with the successful design of the LCA (light combat aircraft). As I learned from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aame.in\/2009\/08\/dr-kota-harinarayana-development-of.html\">another blog<\/a>, all LCA\u00a0tail numbers start with <strong>KH<\/strong>\u00a0in his honour.
